## Understanding Credits

Credits are the unit of resource consumption on Adaptive. Users receive daily and monthly credit allocations that vary by tier.

### AI Operations

AI operations — including text generation, media generation, web search, and other AI tool calls — consume credits and represent nearly all credit usage. On paid tiers, they are the only source of credit cost.

- A short AI-generated message is typically about 1 credit.
- A complex task like generating an image or audio clip is typically about 10 credits.

### Computer Uptime

Your computer's runtime uses credits on the Free tier (~0.06 credits per minute). On paid tiers, computer uptime is included in your plan at no additional credit cost.

### Storage

**Computer storage** is fast, built-in storage used to run the operating system and applications. **File storage** is separate cloud storage for files and media.
